Director: Adam Quayle

"I'm not letting the War in here. Nothing beautiful survives war."

It's the start of Ramadan. Jusuf (Joe) is a Bosnian Muslim living in Manchester. He and Rose are looking to set up home in the suburbs. But when 'Soldier' arrives at Liberty Place - the homeless hostel where they work - Joe's past comes back to haunt him, as he desperately tries to salvage his future in England.

Through a blend of dark humour and compelling insight, Beyond Omarska explores the devastating effects of war and how the political impinges on the personal.

Reviews

"Michael Crowley’s gripping play about the aftermath of the Bosnian war"
Time Out «««

"An excellent, if uncomfortable play that illustrates the asylum-related issues vividly, yet also holds a strong narrative interest"
The Stage

"Beyond Omarska is a substantial night at the theatre. This excellent play has humour, pathos and fully fleshed out characters... [and] will resonate in your mind and heart, long after you've left the theatre"
