The toughest creative challenge in town is back at Southwark Playhouse.
Present:Tense challenges groups of cross-disciplinary artists to collaborate on a brand new piece of work created in response to the hottest topic of the moment - in just seven days.
Swabs Kenneth Emson
Box of Tricks was invited to take part in Present : Tense / Thirteen. We fused text and movement - uniting playwright Kenny Emson and movement director Robin Guiver - to respond to the news story: "DNA of innocent still to be retained for six years".
For Present : Tense / Thirteen, here's who else took up the gauntlet:
DRYWRITE
One of the most inovative and exciting companies around.
SARAH SOLEMANI
Playwright, actor, comedienne and regular contributor to The New Statesman.
PAUL JELLIS
Actor, producer, and all round creative whizz kid.
Working with musician BETTY STEELES, director MELANIE HILLYARD and writer ADAM BARNARD.
The artists met a week before to select the most momentous story on the news agenda. We had seven days to create a piece of work that responded to the story, in collaboration with artists from other disciplines, before it was performed live exactly one week after we began.
Throughout the week we charted our progress and posted comments on the Present : Tense blog.
