What's in a word? Six 15-minute plays, from six of the hottest young playwrights, have been specially commissioned, with one simple premise: one word, six new plays. For this cycle, the word of inspiration is
vengeance.

Greek Tragedy, Elinor Cook
A dark romantic comedy set in a tacky beach resort in Greece. When a young man toys with the emotions and affections of his female consorts, their holiday takes a turn for the worse when revenge is on the menu.

The Captain of the School Football Team,
Kenneth Emson
Amid the prefect badges, school ties and empty B&H packets, a secret lurks that will send shivers down the spine of a small community. On a warm sunny day, when three kids should have all been at school, a dark secret emerges that will change their lives forever.

Fish Missing (Fishing), Joe Harbot
A dark comedy involving a couple, a goldfish and a dog.  When events take their illogical course, it’s the goldfish that gets caught in the middle of the couple's wranglings.

Halcyon Days, Daniel Kanaber
Two old school friends meet up for dinner.  But all is not as it may appear. When the past rears its ugly head, and old demons emerge, can they forget? A play about the fine line between passion and cruelty, regret and obsession.

Chopping Onions, Becky Prestwich
Following a stroke, Esther has lost the power of speech. Unable to live alone, she has moved in to her daughter’s home. In Ruth’s kitchen, the two women are making soup together, trying to re-build their relationship on new terms.

What Cheryl Did Next, Leo Richardson
When Cheryl’s boyfriend Dean sleeps with the local bike, Doggy Danielle, best friend Larissa promises a revenge mission will heal her broken heart. But Cheryl soon realizes that better than revenge are self worth, success and a job as an 18-30’s holiday rep in Magaluf.

Theatre503:"Arguably the most important theatre in Britain today."

The Guardian

"Some radically different, inventive and original productions... Six plays, written by six playwrights with just one word for inspiration has produced six widely different plays, each entertaining with its own style... Showcasing original and ambitious new writing."
